Statement of Purpose

The objectives of the Friends of Mt Cole and the Pyrenees Ranges are:
  1. to maintain current status of Mt Cole State Forest and Pyrenees Ranges and to have input into future management strategies;
  2. to provide support for and to foster public awareness of Mt Cole and the Pyrenees Ranges;
  3. to assist with special projects selected by the Group in consultation with current management authority;
  4. to bring into contact people with an interest in Mt Cole State Forest and the Pyrenees Ranges
  5. to support the effective conservation of native flora and fauna in Victoria.

Mt Cole State Forest

Mt Cole State Forest is located one hours drive west of Ballarat, just off the Western Highway.

Mt Cole State Forest is 25 kilometres from the township of Beaufort and marks the gateway to the Pyrenees Wine District and the Grampians.


Pyrenees State Forest

The Pyrenees State Forest is located approximately 200kms north-west of Melbourne near the town of Avoca, which can be accessed via the Sunraysia or Pyrenees Highways.

To get to the Pyrenees State forest from Avoca travel west along Vinoca Road following the signs to the wineries then on to the Waterfalls Picnic Area.
